I personally found Beet It Sport to be helpful for me. I am able to breathe comfortably when it comes to very high intensity efforts, especially in a low oxygen condition. And I’m also able to sustain a good genuine power for long periods of endurance training. I really recommend others to try it out.

1. How did you get involved in cycling?
I used to be a die-hard basketball fan when I was a young teenager. Every day after school, you will see me at the basketball court. At that time, I didn’t have transportation to get there. I was always relying on somebody for a ride or I would just walk the 5km distance. I started to use my sister’s bike without asking her permission each time to travel, until one day the bike was stolen by some dumb friends… haha. Then ever since that day, everything went back to normal. I had no transportation again. To get to the basketball court, I had to walk again. I started saving money from my food allowance for quite a while to just get a bike. What I remember is that it was like 2 to 3 months of starvation. I think it was a lesson to teach me how to appreciate and not to simply borrow other people’s things. Since having my own bike, I started hanging out with my bicycle shop friends. It was a place that really made me fall in love with cycling, especially mountain biking!

2. What are your sport achievements so far?
I would say … the 2021 national track championships men's elite individual pursuit title is my best achievement to date. Why do I say that? In my cycling career, I started to get involved in it in my late teens. I didn’t really have that many experiences like others do. So instead of doing bunch races & tactical races, I put more focus on individual events which require more individual physical abilities and technical skills. It’s just me versus me.

3. What are your aspirations in cycling for 2022 and beyond?
Of course, it’s to qualify for the Asian Games 2022 & Olympics 2024 which many think is just a dream. Also to win another national title or two. To get my first Asian Cycling Championship medal in my upcoming ACC competition, if possible. Last but not least, to win some medals in the upcoming Sukma Games.

4. What motivates you to train and compete at the highest level?
I was once a fat little guy that no one believed in what I was capable of doing. I wanted to show the whole world that this fat little guy can achieve something that’s out of their imagination. From being laughed at to being admired. I want to be the best version of myself and to make my family proud!

5. Describe your perfect weekend.
Actually I want my weekend to be perfect. But you know sometimes, things don’t go as perfect as you think. My only off day is when my love one is working, so yeah … I have to get up early to send her off for work … haha. Sometimes we have to rush for breakfast. If not, I will be eating all alone … ahhh. That’s s.ck. But of course, I do something fun in the evenings too! I have a very close friend who plays basketball somewhere near my girlfriend's workplace. Once she is done for the day, we will pick her up and go for a nice dinner and chill. After all, that’s not too bad right? Haha…
